## Linear Static Analysis of Flat Plate with Holes using ANSYS Workbench

• Objectives: To analyze flat plate with holes using FEM

• Geometrical Design:

Here in this project we have a flat plate with hole; we are having two scenarios for the flat plate

1) Plate with One Hole & 2) Plate with three Holes.

This is how it looks like;

Case 1: Plate with One Hole (300x120x30 mm)

Case 2: Plate with Three Holes (300x120x30 mm)

• Material Properties:

Material taken here is Structural Steel, mechanical properties of the given material is given below;

• Problem Statement:

Flat plate is being analyzed with FEM with Ansys workbench, Plate will be fixed at one end, at the other end there will be applied Tensile Load.

• Mesh Criterion:

Type of Elements: Tetrahedron

Element Size: 5 mm

Plate is fixed with Left side and applied tensile force of 500 N in Right side,

Plate analyzed using Ansys Workbench using above given Constraints, and 3 results taken in consideration, Total Deformation, Equivalent Elastic Strain, Equivalent Stress.

Post Process Results Summary;

• Results and Conclusion:

1) Stress Generated is higher in Case 2 than Case 1

2) Deformation is higher in Case 1 than Case 2

3) Strain is higher in Case 2 than Case 1

We can conclude that the result we can clearly see that stress generation in Case 1 is lower than case 2, but the there is significant change in weight of part so design 2 is best suitable for application.
